Knaresborough Town ended a run of three successive defeats as they took a point from their home match with Pensitone Church which finished 1-1.
Penistone’s Danny Barlow fired over early on before a weak Brad Walker shot was saved by Adan Rhodes in the visitors’ goal.
Penistone were then awarded a soft free kick some twenty five yards from goal and Barlow managed to curl a fine shot beyond Ben Ledger in the 20th minute.
Three minutes later, Knaresborough were then awarded a free kick of their own on the left side and the ball was headed home by Colin Heath as Rhodes came out to clear.
Dan McDaid shot over from a good position for Knaresborough before Barlow had a second free kick fly wide of the mark.
After half time, the sides continued to cancel out much of their opponents’ efforts but Danny Joynes fired over for the visitors after a good run from Barlow and Brett Lovell headed over from a late corner just before Ledger made a fine save from Joynes after the goal kick was played to the attacker.
A late Fraser Lancaster header from Dom Wilson’s centre was narrowly wide of goal, but the final result proved about right despite the late chances.
