Knaresborough Town and Harrogate Railway Athletic battled to a 1-1 draw at Manse Lane on Saturday in a game which was probably a disappointment to the majority of the crowd of 300. Will Lenehan had the game’s first chance, heading wide from a corner, but then Railway went ahead in the 16th minute. Gregg Anderson appeared to be allowing the ball to run dead, but Aaron Kitao gathered the ball and crossed for Daniel Blacker to strike home off the underside of the crossbar. A second Blacker shot was saved by Sam Lee soon afterwards, but then Joe Wilton in the Rail goal saved a Ben Cohen volley before seeing over a Luke Stewart shot. Early in the second half, Sam Cook fired wide from a Lenehan header and later Wilton tipped over Simon Parkes effort. Fatlum Ibrahimi headed a Ben Cohen corner from his own line, but chances were still rare and when Stewart headed wide, it looked desperate for Knaresborough. The equaliser then arrived in the 83rd minute when Brad Walker crossed from the right and Stewart powered a header home despite Wilton’s last ditch attempt to claw the ball away. Dan Thirkell was narrowly wide and then Albert Ibrahimi had a chance for Railway only for his shot to be blocked by Lenehan on the line. Aaron Haswell then had a very late chance as he broke clear for Rail, only to pull his shot wide of the post as glory beckoned.
